Sundae Drive - Week 10 / July 26

Another 2 for 1 special on the Sundae Drive this week. The Carroll clan headed to chocolaty Hershey PA while the Cunninghames stayed home in hot and sticky CT :-)

The Hershey crowd enjoyed treats from Phillip Arthur's Old Fashioned Ice Cream (http://philliparthursic.com/) located right on . . . . wait for it... Chocolate Ave! :-) Jon had the Hershey Trojan (the high school mascot), a sundae with vanilla ice cream, reeses peanut butter cups, choc sauce.

The Cunninghames continued the adventure within the adventure by combining a dinner out followed by ice cream. Destination - Fairfield, CT - first stop Joe's American Bar + Grill (http://www.joesamerican.com/).

I digress ... earlier in the day Jake and I went mountain biking in Bethel CT. As we were getting ready to ride a woman and her daughter stopped us to ask if we were familiar with the trails at Huntington State Park. She was concerned about which trails might be hiking only. I'd been there a few times so offered what limited info I could and then off we went. As we finished up our ride we saw the same people having a picnic lunch. I asked if everything went well, which they say it did. (Fast forward several hours.) As I open the door to Joe's I notice 2 people walking out so I politely (as my parents taught me) stepped back and held the door for the two women ....THE SAME TWO WOMEN from mountain biking!!! seriously, what are the odds???

Anyway, back to Joes. Good dinner, I had the chicken fajitas which were good. Jake's taste in food is getting expensive; he is usually happy with a burger but tonight went for the sirloin steak tips. Overall, nice place and the price was reasonable. Might not drive the 30 minutes just to go back there but if was in the area and needed to eat would not hesitate to stop in.

On to the main attraction! As we left Joe's we realized Sunny Daes (another ice cream shop with no web site) was 2 doors down. We found a crowded parking lot and the line was almost out the door but the service was speedy and we moved along quickly. An old family friend recommended the place to us (Thanks Uncle Billy) and his recommendation was on the mark. So many flavors to choose from I had to get 3 different ones in a cup :-)) Megan got the Cake Batter ice cream, she raved about it. She says Sunny Daes is the best ice cream we've had yet. I'd say it was really really good but give it 2nd place at this point.
