Mention spring break in Florida and most people start conjuring up images of crazy college kids on the beach, in the bars and generally having a wild time. Our spring break was similar but different (opposite) :-)
Just back from a wonderful week in Florida visiting family, We stayed with my Dad for the week but also spent time visiting with Amy's sisters Katy and Teri.
Katy turned the big 4-0 this year and we went down to Wellington for a great party Saturday night. Amy's brother John and sister Ginger also came to town to celebrate.
Weather didn't cooperate early in the week, a bit cloudy and rainy. We made the best of it dodging rain drops a few days and hanging @ the pool waiting for the clouds to part (they didn't).
Wednesday turned out to be the first real sunny day. We played tennis, which I don't do much of any more. I'd forgotten how much liked playing. I used to really enjoy tennis when I was younger but was never very good, though I recall doing a good John McEnroe imitation in the way I used to throw my racket in disgust of my lousy playing. But my temper has mellowed with age and I eventually learned that top spin let me hit the ball hard without sending balls over the fence. After tennis we hung out @ Teri's pool and tried to get tan.
Thursday we headed north with Katy, Neil and her boys to Kennedy Space Center . In the 20+ years we've been going to FL we'd never been to KSC and I finally convinced the family it might be fun (primarily because our friends the Carrolls just went and liked it).
I think everyone had a good time and the day ended with us watching a rocket launch. We didn't see it while @ KSC but rather we watched from the parking lot of the restaurant we had dinner at that night.
Friday and Saturday were back @ the pool, now we're home and I’m watching the rain fall outside our window.
I was supposed to go skiing today, one last trip to VT but the weather wasn't great and I couldn't muster the energy to spend 6 hours in the car for a few hours of skiing in rain :-(
I haven't completely given up hope of one more day on the slopes but the chances are pretty slim.
Of course, softball season starts tomorrow so i won't be bored.
