If you grew up in or near Stamford you have to have heard of the Colony Grill. They opened a 2nd location in Fairfield this spring so we had to check it out. Honestly, i was very skeptical, I didn't think they could reproduce the pizza but was proven wrong. We knew they'd be busy so we got there around 5:30. We had about 15 minute wait and grabbed a big table in the bar. 8 people, 7 pizzas, a pitcher of beer and some sodas made for a great dinner. Staten Island girl Lorri proclaimed it the best pizza since leaving NY.
After stuffing our faces we took a little drive around Fairfield. Jon and Lorri both went to Fairfield U so we showed the kids where Lorri lived by the beach. That gave us just enough time to digest so we could go for ice cream at Gofer Ice Cream (get it, "go for" + gofer?? think about it, it will come to you).
Gofer had also recently opened. Place was empty but the ice cream was delicious. I had a flavor called Gofer something or other plus a scoop of coffee with chips and brownies (i can't resist coffee ice cream).
I'm pretty sure Jake liked it too. He ordered first and was done before we could sit down outside.
