As they say in Hollywood(or is it broadway?), the show must go on, and the same goes for Sundae Drive. While 2 of our regulars felt going to the see the Jonas Brothers would be more fun that eating ice cream, the rest of us did our part to keep the adventure going.
What started last week as a fun little bonus might be turing into part of the weekly adventure. . . . This week's ice cream destination was Dr. Mikes in Bethel CT. Rated as one of the top 10 by Connecticut Magazine we figured it was a must see (or taste) for us. But looking at a map of the route from Monroe to Bethel we realized there as another significant landmark along our path... so for the second week in a row we added a stop, this week dinner for 6 @ Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries!!(http://www.fiveguys.com/)
After a great dinner we continued on our journey, giving us just enough time to digest, to Dr. Mikes in Bethel (no link to insert, how in 2009 can a place not have a website?!?!?). Hardly any line, we got our frozen deserts and sat outside on the picnic tables enjoying a great summer evening. We were serenaded by music coming from one of the nearby restaurants. The chocolate lace seemed to be the favorite this trip, 3 of us had it. Vanilla ice cream with ribbons of chocolate covered caramel :-)
After eating we took a stroll around the block. Saw a couple of interesting restaurants worth going back to Bethel for. I've never been in downtown Bethel before, very nice town.
